Oxbow Mine Tailings Restoration Project

Thanks to a Warm Springs Tribe project, a stretch of the Middle Fork John Day River that was severely damaged by gold mining nearly a century ago is now unrecognizable. Nearly one and a half miles of new meandering channels were constructed and the ecosystem is well on its way to restoration. All told, the project was made possible through the hard work and dedication of hundreds of individuals. Click here to read the whole story.
