There are currently two fires burning in Zone 6.
A fire on the Oregon side is burning between Rowena and Mosier. There are significant risks to the City of the Dalles and the surrounding area. The area from Rowena south over the hill to 7 mile are on level 3 “Go Now” evacuation. See map below. Snipes Street in The Dalles west to Browns Creek is on level 2 “Be Ready” evacuation. Currently there are no significant risks to any fishing access sites for this fire but I-84 is closed in both directions from Hood River to the Dalles. SR 14 is open between Hood River and the Dalles but is extremely congested.
The other fire is on the Washington side from SR 14 mile marker (MM) 53 and 55. The area between MM 47 and 55 is on a level 2 “Be Ready” notice and is closed. CRITPD officers have checked the Wind River and Cooks fishing access sites to ensure anyone there of the fire risk.
CRITPD is monitoring the status of both fires and will provide assistance to Wasco or Skamania counties if requested.
