Assistant or Associate Professor – Fishery Sciences

Housed in the Department of Fish and Wildlife Sciences in the College of Natural Resources, this tenure track assistant or associate professor position will develop an externally funded research program focusing on both indigenous and western science aspects of native fisheries recovery and management in the Pacific Northwest; collaborate with departmental, college and university researchers, Aquaculture Research Institute scientists, CRITFC specialists and managers, regional tribal partners, and other external partners on interdisciplinary research focused on fisheries recovery and management; apply modern research tools (e.g. genomics, isotope ecology, telemetry), and develop new research directions in fisheries recovery and management with a focus on the intersection of indigenous and western science components of conservation of natural resources. This position will teach approximately 7 credits of coursework each year. Acceptable courses may include tribal fisheries management, conservation physiology and genetics, conservation aquaculture or other courses relevant to the interdisciplinary degrees of the College and campus­ wide Environmental Science program. Graduate courses taught may include fisheries recovery and management theory as applied to native fish management, graduate research methods, or other courses based on academic qualifications. This position will also advise graduate and undergraduate students in the College of Natural Resources. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria outlined in department and college bylaws.

Note: This position is with the University of Idaho, CRITFC’s partner in aquaculture and fish genetics research. The position is location in Moscow, Idaho and pay range is $80,000 per year or higher depending on experience.
