2020 Annual Report: Genetic Assessment of Columbia River Stocks
Abstract
This project combines multiple inter-related studies from the Accords Agreement that address the following current and future objectives: 1) discover and evaluate SNP markers in salmon and steelhead and other anadromous fishes, 2) expand and create genetic baselines for multiple species including Chinook Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), steelhead trout (O. mykiss), Sockeye Salmon and kokanee (O. nerka), and Coho Salmon (O. kisutch), 3) implement GSI programs for mainstem Chinook salmon, Sockeye Salmon, and steelhead fisheries, 4) Use PBT and GSI to estimate stock composition of fish passage at Bonneville Dam (steelhead, Sockeye Salmon, and Chinook Salmon), 5) adaptive genetic variation associated with environment, landscape, and phenotypic traits, and 6) White Sturgeon genetics.
