Biography
Laurie Porter currently serves as the Lamprey Project Lead in the Fisheries Management Department. Laurie has been employed at CRITFC since 2015 where she started as the Lamprey Biologist. Laurie’s work is focused on implementing the objectives outlined in the Tribal Pacific Lamprey Restoration Plan. Laurie is committed to working towards fulfilling the plan vision that “Pacific lamprey are widely distributed within the Columbia River basin in numbers that fully provide for ecological, tribal cultural and harvest values”. The Lamprey Project Lead duties include policy and technical level coordination with CRITFC member tribes and partners within and outside of the Columbia River Basin on matters concerning Pacific Lamprey restoration and conservation. Laurie serves on multiple committees and working groups including leading the CRITFC Lamprey Committee, member of the PLCI Steering Committee, leads/participates in several technical workgroups and regional management units.
Outside of work, Laurie enjoys spending time with her daughters and family. Hobbies and interests include paddling, hiking, studying astrobiology, geopolitics, and learning the Ojibwe language.
