Biography
Mike Matylewich currently serves as the Department Manager for the Fisheries Management Department, which provides the Commission’s member tribes with technical assistance on harvest, passage, and production issues. Part of his duties include providing assistance to tribal policymakers negotiating fishery management plans with state, federal, and Canadian governments. Mike is a former chair of the U.S. v. Oregon Technical Advisory Committee and Production Advisory Committee. Mike also serves on the Finance & Administration Committee and the Data Sharing Committee for the Pacific Salmon Commission.
Mike Matylewich received a B.A. in Environmental Sciences/Biology from the University of Virginia in 1979. He completed a M.S. in Oceanography from Old Dominion University in 1983. Mike also completed a M.A. in Conflict Resolution at Portland State University in 2007. His interest is in how science is used in public policy processes.
