Biography

I am originally from Nepal, a small developing country in south Asia which is rich in natural resources and features the highest mountain in the world i.e., Mount Everest.

I received my bachelor’s degree in forestry science from the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara, Nepal in 2007. Then, I accomplished my MSc in wetland ecology and PhD in watershed science from the School of Renewable Natural Resources, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA in December 2012 and August 2017, respectively. My master’s thesis focused on evaluating woody expansion in wetlands facing hydrologic modifications leading to stabilized water levels with reduced variability, while, my PhD dissertation involved examining long-term discharge, sediment transport, and geomorphological changes in the lowermost stretch of the Mississippi River downstream from its avulsion to the Atchafalaya River at the Old River Control Structure to its outlet in the Gulf of Mexico. Post PhD, I also worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Grazinglands Research Laboratory, El Reno, Oklahoma for a couple of years till July 2020. My post-doctoral research focused on predicting and analyzing the effects of future climate scenarios in water and agricultural productivity of the Southern Great Plains (which consists of three states: Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas) and on analyzing intense precipitation models in site specific future precipitation distributions within this region.

Recently, I have joined CRITFC in my capacity as a climate scientist. I am quite enthusiastic about delving deeper into CRITFC’s vast arena of interdisciplinary research projects in fisheries management and restoration in the Columbia River Basin with scopes of providing my expertise to and learning from the projects synchronously.
