Biography
I care deeply about human impacts on our planet’s health and about the preservation of our natural resources and wild spaces. I work within the Coastal Margin Observation and Prediction (CMOP) program at CRITFC to ensure and assess data quality from our array of physical and biogeochemical sensors deployed in the Columbia River estuary and offshore plume. I have been with CMOP since 2010 and made the transition with CMOP to CRITFC in July 2020. Before CMOP I managed an oceanography lab for ten years at the Grice Marine Lab, College of Charleston, SC. Our work there focused on marine phytoplankton and biogeochemical cycling of climatically relevant compounds and included field research and cruises to the Antarctic and Arctic, among other amazing locations. While my work no longer takes me to sea, the sea hasn’t left me, and I enjoy any opportunity to get on the water (from ponds to the ocean). Outside of work I enjoy photography and outdoor adventures with my family including camping, hiking, kayaking, and biking.
