Genetics Laboratory Technician III
Fishery Science Department Hagerman Genetics Lab
Biography
As of 2025, I am a genetics laboratory technician at the Hagerman Fish Culture Experiment Station in Hagerman, Idaho. A lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest, I earned my B.S. in Marine & Coastal Science from Western Washington University in 2023.
Since graduating, I have gained experience across a variety of federal, state, and non-profit research institutions. At the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, I developed a foundation in molecular biology while interning in immunopathology labs. At the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, I led a field project investigating the incidence, progression, and mortality associated with eelgrass wasting disease in Washington state. With the U.S. Geological Survey, I contributed to projects examining how endemic viruses affect the health of marine fish populations. Most recently, I worked with the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, conducting creel surveys and engaging the public in statewide shellfish monitoring efforts.
Outside of work, I also enjoy hiking, photography, cooking, and spending time with my son and our pet rats.
